Scope
★ The Challenge
Confidential project. These are proprietary internal systems. The architecture, data, screens, and implementation details are confidential and are not shown or described here. This case study covers the scope, role, and business outcomes only.
Like many growing companies, BSL ran a lot of its day-to-day work on spreadsheets, email threads, and paper forms. That works until it doesn't — approvals get lost, data lives in five places, and nobody has a clear view of what's actually happening across HR, Finance, IT, Sales, and Marketing.
The brief was to replace that patchwork with proper internal software: a connected set of business systems, designed and built in-house, that different departments could rely on every day. The work was delivered as the sole developer — responsible end to end for designing, building, testing, deploying, and maintaining each system.
★ The Systems
Each system targets a specific business function. Described here by purpose and outcome only — the inner workings stay in-house.
A single place for staff to log IT issues and for the team to track every device and asset across its lifecycle. Replaces scattered emails with clear ownership, status, and accountability.
A self-service portal for staff to apply for leave and for managers to approve it — with balances and records kept accurate automatically, instead of living in spreadsheets and signed forms.
A structured way for employees to submit expense claims and for Finance to review and approve them, bringing transparency and a clean audit trail to a process that used to be slow and manual.
A platform for the marketing team to plan, organise, and publish social content from one place — keeping campaigns coordinated and consistent rather than managed ad hoc across tools.
A business-intelligence dashboard that turns sales data into clear, visual insight for management — so decisions are made on a live picture of performance instead of static, after-the-fact reports.
Requirements gathered directly with department heads, then designed, developed, tested, deployed, and maintained as the sole developer — with documentation and user training to drive adoption across the company.
